Weekend Eye Candy

Dichotomy

the fine line between vintage and modern flair

...blue has got me by the heart ~
for the first time in my life I'm hooked on this hue!

I cannot quite decide if Brass/Gold --or-- Silver finishes go better?
That's the beauty! You get to mix and match with both in this palette

Now if only my stairwell and living room could adapt in a snap*
..I have a crush on that settee and am listing it on my Wisteria wishlist

Unapologetically Country Prone

It's no wonder with these lazy June days
that I'm finding myself switching out
Adele
and tuning into a genre
gifting me with memories of
*Lightning Bugs* floating upon the tall fields ...

earnestly destined to live in the
rolling land, and hopelessly
suckered-in by every Horse Whispering tale

We fake it here in the suburbs.
play weekend cowboys:
riding our horses with my parents
(having proudly converted my husband to happily wearing the vintage tack-swap cowboy boots i found him, as his near-daily *preference!)
looking forward to rodeos,
awed by movies like 8 Seconds,
and daydreaming of unmapped motorcylce trips across the West.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Isn't that what we all do?
-- pick the realistic,
half-way point between ideal worlds?

Don't get me wrong~
I love our quaint little house,
its location 1 block off Main Street in "small-town-ville" bridging the edge of metropolis,
living 1.2 miles from work
and my MiNi Cooper that would inevitably last 7min on a farm..
...
and (perhaps peculiarly) I find myself especially fortunate to
find a guy who drives a pickup truck, rides my horses, fixes the washing machine*
***these alone paint a mirage of inprobable validity for a person born in Minneapolis- Ha!***
invariably belts-out country music with the windows rolled down & me chiming along (equally out of tune),
loves the span of a never-ending Western skyline..
--yet--
he can listen to me talk about design + stationary for oodles of inordinate time
and rub elbows with a black-tie crowd like it's all he's ever known.
+ he wanted to marry me.

so we continue to span this life
of cosmopolitan convenience --meets-- rural romance

and
in the meantime, here's my palette for a
Lifestyle / Vacation
palpable in endless country-music lyrics
There's sOmething about the dewy haze
of a cool summer sunset
that makes me smile through to the core

**~ Sigh ..

..now off to bed, snuggling with my fresh white down
to the sound of rain out the window*
Tomorrow is my late shift at work -- SO
i get to sleep in!
although, I will not look anywhere near this gorgeous Swedish dame when i wake!
good night & best of luck with your daydreams

Seeding with a Muse

When it reaches 70 in MN, we all bloom smiles
+ time for leisure outside!

Coming home from work with my sunroof open
leaded my foot on the gas pedal!
I knew just what I was going to do when I got home...

                    1.  Very house-broke Lawn Chair
                    2.  Very broken-in pair of Jeans
                    3.  Wine + bread / oil / parmesan / cracked pepper

*****
and Whuallah~
My Tuscan Eve
in the yard.

(not my "californian" vineyard of a yard)

Needless to say, I could only sit still & bask for about
20min

Soon - I was rummaging for my trusty tapemeasure
and spec'ing out our existing porch facade...
Here's what she currently looks like:

Now, for the Muse
(someday i'll find the time to draw my new plan)

---Now, (wipe my drool)

SUBTRACT:
Pool
Columns
Right-Wing Portico
Impresive 2-story Height

TRANSFER:
Oversized Door Lantern
Shutters
*Symmetry*
Sidewalk Pedestal w.Statue

!!!

-Other Symmetrical Food for Thought-

These are much more French, than the Georgian Neo-Classic Muse
..but I simply cannot resist the
chalky-blue shutters
topiaries
& pea-gravel walkways

..definitely more budget appropriate..

A little too messy with plants, but I adore the circumfranced pedestal!

the Low* Horizontal lines of this front yard are very mod-chic!

OUT with the "Stuffy" -- IN w.the Freshly Tailored

SYMMETRY + LIGHTING
are a Surefire way to achieve a stately approach!

Window Fences,
Very Romeo & Juliet?
They are a forgotten touch of detail
that can add just the right amount of British Posh
..to polish off your finale

Informal Dining
alongside the house
or
backyard
to balance the earnestness of the front entrance

Sunday Post, Volume: 1

Despite loathing the inky smuding aroma that newspaper leaves on my hands..
i can't help but envy this high-ceilinged Breakfast Nook's tuffet:

*perfectly cushed for nothing other than a 2hr plop with the stinky culprit!
..and a weighty spread to savor, of course*

~listening to the newly chirping birds out the window~

Halfway to Thawed

1 month and 1 day
..exactly the time it has taken me to sign back on and post again!

It's this time of year when we hear those peculiar
'chirps'
coming from the trees (fyi, believe it or not- it's just those little creatures we call: birds)
..and the sun tags along with us a little longer!
-great for my Vitamin D boost-

The days are getting longer, and so is my work load.

While I can say that my moments of being able to query life and the finer things has all but vanished,
I cannot say my brainwaves have been on hiatus!
My new job and some fortunate side-gigs have got my neurons swirling at a frazzling rate!

So now, with my trusty bowl of Vanilla+Carmel ice cream, I daydream
a little sonnet of
Spring *

JCrew, you've done it again
in love with the lip color + pastels!

(we're suppose to hit the 50degree mark tomorrow)

Get out and Enjoy it!

Lilac.
knocks me flat!

One of the best parts of Spring,
is it's that perfect in-between state where you can layer
and still mix/match your favorite winter/summer items!

ie: Gloves!
paired with 3/4-length sleeves and a cowl neck
*tres chic   ..swoon worthy
& yet so understated, you can get away with a little JackieO moment

Dresses have never felt so long-lost
as they do each spring!
Break out the frocks, grab a cardigan, aren't you sick of tights??

I don't think it's possible to
Overdo
florals, or pastels... anywhere you can gob them on!

afterall, we've been hibernating and deserve a little
whipped-cream charm.
Think Laura Ashwell's "shabby chic" stock goes up every March??
hehe

..why stop there??-- indulge your sweet toOth while you're at it!!

Plan a kitchy spring break destination to jolt your icey toes
back to a skippy tap

buy flowers for your dining room table

BEST PART of spring??
Hang your Laundry out to dry!!!
Mmm! nothing like the smell of line-dried sheets on your bed*

~signing off, tomorrow i'm waking up to tour the Cambria factory where
they make beautiful quartz countertops!
*hoping for a sunny long drive down so i can sport my "summer" shades and soak up my cheery free "D"*
